PART ONE

Privacy Policy

How Apex Tone Lab protects account, learning, and classroom information.

OUR PLAIN-LANGUAGE COMMITMENT

Learning data should support learning—not advertising.

Apex Tone Lab does not sell personal information, display targeted advertising, or track people across other websites. We collect only the information needed to provide accounts, learning tools, classroom features, and saved progress.

  • ✓No advertising or analytics cookies
  • ✓No cross-site tracking
  • ✓No sale of personal information
  • ✓No legal name required for a student account

1. Information we handle

We handle the minimum information reasonably needed to operate Apex Tone Lab:

  • Account information: username, account identifier, role, theme, and sign-in information. Authentication credentials are handled by our authentication service; Apex Tone Lab does not display your password to teachers or other users.
  • Learning activity: lesson progress, XP, assignments, game records, classroom membership, and settings you choose to save.
  • Content you choose to submit: class messages, teacher feedback, lesson notes, and audio assignments when you intentionally record and submit one.
  • Essential device storage: the app uses browser local or session storage to keep you signed in when requested and remember settings, game inventory, and offline notes. This is not advertising tracking.

2. How we use information

We use information only to authenticate accounts, deliver lessons and games, save progress, connect students with their classrooms, support educator dashboards, prevent misuse, troubleshoot the service, and respond to support requests.

3. Microphone and audio

Live tuner and chord-coach microphone input is analyzed on your device while the tool is active. It is not recorded or uploaded by those live tools. Audio is stored only when you deliberately create and submit an audio assignment or another recording feature clearly asks you to save it.

4. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be processed by carefully selected infrastructure providers that host the app, authenticate users, store learning records, or protect the service. They may process information only to provide those operational services or as required by law.

5. Students and educators

Apex Tone Lab is built for education and avoids requesting unnecessary personal details. Students should use the service with the involvement of a parent, guardian, school, or educator when required. Educators are responsible for obtaining any permissions their school or local rules require before inviting students or submitting classroom content.

6. Retention, access, and deletion

We keep account and learning information while it is needed to provide the service. You may permanently delete your account from Settings by typing the required confirmation, or ask to review or correct information by emailing support@apextonelab.com. Limited records may remain briefly in security logs or backups when legally or operationally necessary.

7. Security and changes

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no online service can promise absolute security. If this policy changes materially, we will update the date above and present the revised policy on this page.

PART TWO

Terms of Service

The clear rules for using Apex Tone Lab.

BEFORE YOU USE THE LAB

A short checklist for a safe, useful learning space.

By creating an account or using Apex Tone Lab, you agree to these terms. If you are a student who cannot legally agree on your own, a parent, guardian, school, or educator must approve your use.

  • ✓No subscription fees or in-app payments
  • ✓No advertising or analytics cookies
  • ✓No harassment, cheating, or harmful content
  • ✓Only upload work you have permission to share

1. Free access

Apex Tone Lab is currently free. We do not require a credit card, charge a subscription, or sell in-app purchases. If that ever changes, we will provide clear notice before any charge applies; continued free access is not guaranteed forever.

2. Accounts and eligibility

  • ✓

Provide accurate account details and keep your sign-in information private.

  • ✓

Use only your own account unless an educator has explicitly provided a shared preview or classroom experience.

  • ✓

Students must have any parent, guardian, school, or educator permission required where they live.

  • ✓

Teacher access is issued through Apex Tone Lab support and may require verification.

3. Acceptable use

  • ✓

Use lessons, games, messaging, and classroom tools for lawful educational purposes.

  • ✓

Treat students, educators, and other community members respectfully.

  • ✓

Do not attempt to bypass security, disrupt the service, impersonate another person, scrape private data, or introduce harmful code.

  • ✓

Do not submit unlawful, abusive, misleading, or privacy-invasive content.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of original work you submit. You give Apex Tone Lab the limited permission needed to store, process, display, and deliver that content through the features you choose to use. You are responsible for having permission to upload recordings, messages, images, compositions, and other materials.

5. Cookies and device storage

Apex Tone Lab does not use advertising or analytics cookies. It does use essential browser storage, including local or session storage, for sign-in choices, settings, offline notes, and game progress. Blocking that storage may prevent some features from working correctly.

6. Educator responsibilities

Educators are responsible for classroom invitations, student supervision, assignment content, required permissions, and compliance with their school or organization’s rules. A teacher account does not make Apex Tone Lab the operator of a school program.

7. Service availability and safety

The service is provided on an “as available” basis. We work to keep it reliable and accurate, but features may change, pause, or contain errors. Guitar practice involves physical activity and sound; use comfortable volume levels, take breaks, and follow appropriate instruction.

8. Suspension and ending use

We may limit or close an account that violates these terms, harms users, threatens security, or misuses the service. You may stop using Apex Tone Lab at any time and permanently delete your account from Settings by typing the required confirmation.
